Invention in brief The IBWT delivers boiling water on cue and in the precise quantity desired. The modified tap head unit comprises of both a standard hot and cold waterline, plus an additional cold waterline encased in an electrical heating element. On activation of the boiling water request button, cold water is feed to the boiling waterline whilst simultaneously electrical energy is passed through the heating element. As the water flows through the line it rises in temperature to the point that it is boiling by the time it comes out of the tap. |

How was the invention dreamed up? It was as a university student and whilst making yet another cup of tea that I came with the idea of integrating a heating element as found in a kettle into a tap head unit. It was rather like cutting out the middle man, since you need to take the kettle to the tap to fill it with water anyway. Later I then realised the time and energy saving benefits, as the only quantity of water being boiled is the amount of water to fill the tea cup rather than boiling all the water in a kettle only to pour out a tea cup full. |

Hopes for commercialisation Soon after receiving a patent, I wrote to numerous tap head manufacturers in a bid to raise interest. I am still looking for a company to take the idea forward and produce a working prototype. |
